Homeland is one of the original planned communities in the United States. Homeland occupies 391 acres filled with nearly 1,000 meticulously-planned historic estates. It occupies one of the highest points in Baltimore at more than 400 feet above sea level, making it one of the more elevated sections of Baltimore.
Other Baltimore neighborhoods located near Homeland include: Rosebank, Lake Evesham, Wyndhurst, and Blythewood.
Houses in Homeland include a variety of early-20th-century revival styles. In addition to the Homeland subdivision, the Greater Homeland Historic District also includes an area known as Old Homeland. This neighborhood of late-19th- and early-20th-century residential and commercial buildings developed on the eastern fringe of the Homeland subdivision. Homes in this area can fetch over $1 million for new homeowners with a median cost of $447,000.
Although most residents and outside observers claim that Homeland has aged well. 1. They are wealthy, educated, travel in style, and live a big city lifestyle. They have urban tastes in literature, music, live theatre and the arts. And are highly educated executives.
2. While 63.5 percent of the working population is employed at executive and management levels, the second largest occupational groups employed in the Homeland real estate area are sales and service workers.
3. 44 percent earned a Masters’ degree, medical degree, Ph.D. or law degree.
The largest number of Homeland commuters—about 42 percent of working residents--spend between 15 and 30 minutes commuting one way to work.
